Description

Description (Service) A community-based, service-driven anti-poverty coalition targeting colleagues and professionals in other sectors including municipal government and the general public. Regularly establishes working groups and/or task forces as necessary where each working group and/or task force is accountable through their work plans and/or through regular reporting. Work closely with community partners engaged in similar work such as the Social Research and Planning Council and the Food Bank Group. Also undertakes community development initiatives such as Destination: Prosperity, a project which specifically engages women as heads of families/households and as residents with skills, assets and lived experience that can be mobilized for community betterment and to inform the collaborative improvement strategies of the services and agencies that comprise Poverty to Prosperity. Brings people in Huron County together from across sectors to better the lives of individuals who live in poverty. A collaborative and action-based group committed to making a real difference in people's lives that is unique as the umbrella group for other networks and organizations that focus on building the capacity to work toward ending poverty in Huron County.  
This collaborative is guided by the following objectives, to:  
- Foster commitment among key stakeholders to build support for ending poverty  
- Establish cross-sectorial collaboration to improve access to services and supports  
- Utilize available local data, information and evidence for decision-making 
- Educate and build awareness about poverty in Huron County  
- Advocate for policy changes that decrease poverty in Huron County
